On behalf of Fencor Packaging Group Ltd, I thought you might appreciate an update of the situation throughout the Group in these testing times.
Many of our customers are telling us that they are relying on us to continue to deliver for them so that they, in turn, can provide their products, some of which are absolutely essential to the food and health supply chains. The demand has been strong – if concentrated – in the last couple of weeks and we’re immensely proud of how our teams in all our plants have responded.
Last week, as Directors, we wrote to all our team to thank them. They are a great team in ‘normal times’, but we have had a wonderful response from them since the start of this pandemic and we particularly wanted to thank all of them for their steadfast reliability, determination and continued hard work in these most uncertain of times.
The health and safety of our colleagues remains our top priority and we are doing all we can to keep them safe and well. In turn, they are doing all they can, following the guidelines in relation to sanitation and distancing. We have also implemented the following additional measures in an effort to be able to continue to operate safely:
These measures impose some constraints on our capacity but give us the best chance to be able to continue to meet our customers’ requirements.
Whilst all of this has been going on, there have
also been some exciting new developments
We have installed an awesome new machine at Manor: a Bobst 8.20 4 colour casemaker, which is considered to be the Rolls-Royce of our industry and is the first of its kind to be installed in the UK. It is already living up to expectations – it has been producing as fast as 18,000 boxes per hour and the quality is really impressive.
Manor’s Vega multipoint gluer, which was taken out temporarily to accommodate the Bobst, is currently being re-installed, bringing Manor back to full capability.
We shall also be installing a new Elitron digital cutter at Easypack in May. This will significantly improve Easypack’s conversion capabilities.
The next few months will doubtless be challenging at times but we remain determined as a collective to continue to deliver for our customers.
